Magnum Opus
Poem

Magnum Opus
you are my undoing
yet you build me up
like crescendos
gradually rebuilding me
atonal, your key
you're unaware
that there is an overture
and you know not
the part you play
can play, will play
conduct
i am undone
being restrung
like a violin
that was played too hard
by the wrong hands
for too long
but you are music
a symphony
a note that echoes
reverberating through the skin
a scale of incomplete compositions
is all I can offer
you, a magnum opus
to play forever
